The Sisters in Faith ladies bible study group, hosted a Trike/Bike-a-Thon on June 13, 2009. Other activities at this event included chalk art, bubble magic and face/body painting.
Britton's Hot Cocoa Stand was a success! In just 2 hours he raised $171! According to Britton's mom, this was completely his idea. He believes in this playground where EVERYONE can play together. Good job, Britton!
In March 2010, the Pre-K through 3rd grade students at St. Paul Lutheran School, in conjunction with the SEMO Student Santas,hosted a Walk-a-Thon to help raise money for the playground. They have also been collecting coins in special containers for several months. All together, these kids raised more than $10,500!! Wow!
Abbey Road Christian Church graciously hosted a folk/bluegrass concert on May 2, 2010. All proceeds of this event were dedicated to the playground project. Bands participating included: Janie Brown and the Chestnut Mountain Gang, Etherton Switch, and Abbey Road.
Many thanks to Emily, Ashlyn, Kathryn, Caleb, Colin, Ryan and Timmy who donated all proceeds from their lemonade stand to Melaina's Magical Playland.
Eldon Nattier and James Coley, co-owners of the Rosebed Inn Bed and Breakfast and Aartful Rose Gallery/Banquet Hall in Cape Girardeau, have committed to donate a portion of all sales of wine and art pieces sold at their opening night events to the playground. They are passionate about the project and hope that their involvement will help make a difference.
Shawn Davis of the Cape Girardeau Police Department generously donated his winnings from the department's "Biggest Loser" Contest. He's a "winner" in our eyes! Thanks!
